East Round 2

Isles      2

CBJ       3

Columbus headed home down 2-0 in the series needing a win to realistically stay alive and they got just that. This wasn't exactly a picture perfect "W" but as they say "a win is a win" and Columbus will be happy to take it. New York came in hot and played that way exiting the first period with a 2-1 lead after outshooting the home side 17-8. The Isles must have been watching the Leafs the other night as they followed suit not bothing to show up for the second period and allowing Columbus to take the lead. The Isles seemed to wake up for the third but J. Markstrom has been very efficient with leads these playoffs and was once again nailing down this win. Markstrom stopped 29-31 for his 5th win of these playoffs and will look to keep it going in Game 4. Isles still leading 2-1

Habs      0

Bruins    5

J. Saros continues to shine in the Boston net but not any brighter than tonight posting a shutout in a must win game. Like Columbus above the Bruins returned home licking their wounds down 2-0 in the series and could not afford to fall behind 3-0. This game was as close as it gets through 2 periods with both teams having a PP opportunity and posting 16 shots on goal. The difference was Boston was able to get a 2-0 lead from their opportunities forcing the Habs into a run and gun third that clearly didn't work either. Montreal saved their best offensive period for last but that opened them up to be counter-punched and they just walked into too many punches giving up another 3 for an ugly loss. This was also a great performance for Boston defensively keeping the red hot Habs to under 30 shots against. With goalie fatigue and issue here and there keeping the shots against down keeps starters in the net and for Boston that is paramount to have a shot at another upset. Boston also staying alive now trailing 2-1
