Flames 3
Oilers 4 (OT)
The battle of Alberta is as advertised as it couldn't be tighter after this game 3 ended at roughly the halfway point of the first overtime period. Connor McDavid scored his 9th goal of these playoffs and second of the game to end this one but this game wasn't about the offense but instead it was once again decided by goaltending. With the shots ending 61-51 for the game there was no shortage of opportunities for either team and any sub par performance by a goalie would have resulted in some seriously tilted ice. Instead we got a barn burner of excitement with both squads playing their guts out for roughly 70 minutes. This series looks to be going deep and it is anyones guess who will prevail. Oilers have the advantage now up 2-1
Stars 3
Blues 4 (OT)
The second game on the slate and the second to go to overtime as this western conference continues. To say after Game 1 that I thought St.Louis was in trouble would be an understatement. Not because of the obvious reason that they are facing a team that has very good for numerous years....not because this team has won championships....it was more about the match-up of a team with limited offense after Line 1 going up against a team that chokes you defensively and counter-puches like Sugar Ray Leonard. Game 1 was a disaster for St.Louis and although Game 2 resulted in a win it wasn't exactly an offensive beat down. That brings us to this Game 3 and once again the Blues weren't embarrassing themselves but they weren't putting up shots like the 80's Oilers either! St.Louis went deep into the third trailing by a goal when "The great 8" was able to notch his 6th of the playoofs to tie it with under 2 minutes to go and force overtime. There was only 1 shot in overtime just 12 seconds into it and that was all that was needed as J.Guentzel buried his 5th of the playoffs and steal what looked like a regulation win from Dallas. St.Louis takes a surprising 2-1 lead
